Looking up in Madrid

Our first day on the ground in Madrid and one of the things that hit me was how much I found myself looking up. The architecture of Madrid is often beautiful bottom to top with the skyline punctuated by significant and richly ornamented edifices. There is a grandeur to the buildings and boulevards...a regal quality mixed with a strong sense of life and pride. Our visit to the home of the Real Madrid football (soccer) team, the Stadium Bernabeu, drove home the deep regional pride of this special place. A great first day!
