First Impressions of Seville

The train from Madrid to Seville was a pleasure. The boys loved getting food at the dining car, and I loved the scenery...red soil, farms, citrus, and millions of producing Olive trees. Wish we could have stopped for a day in Cordoba...the only stop along the way...next time!

Our apartment is on the main walking street about four blocks from the cathedral. It is large, fairly newly renovated, and an amazing value for what we paid. We stocked up on groceries at the Corte Ingles department store...they have a full supermarket in the basement! Took a stroll around hoping to find a place to eat by the river...ended up back near the apartment for a lovely dinner (Cynthia and I thought so but the boys are still trying to understand the food here). We had our first sangria...likely not our last!

Seville is beautiful, smaller in scale than Madrid, and there is a warmth to the buildings and gardens that is palpable. Whereas Madrid is more regal, this place feels somehow more joyous/less imperial. The gardens are exotic, the architecture is diverse and expressive, and the streets are fun places to be.
