Crystal Clear in Madrid

Beautifully sited in the midst of the Parque Retiro not far from the Prado Museum we happened upon the Palacios de Cristal (Crystal Palace). Built in the 19th century, the structure feels classic and modern at the same time. No longer housing the collection of Philippine plants that inspired its creation, today the space is curated by the Sophia Reina Museum, home to Picasso's massive Guernica. It was wonderful to experience the the structural clarity without the plants...are rare treat that I hope will make me see such structures with renewed interest and respect in the future.
