Granada, part 1...the Nasrid Palace...Early Moorish Section

We ventured off to Granada from Malaga yesterday. A beautiful drive through rolling farmland studded with Andalusian farmhouses (fincas)...many of which are dilapidated and in near ruins...enough to make one want to weep! We got good and lost in Granada trying to get to the Alhambra. Fortunately we travel by Cynthia's rules and leave plenty of time for such occurrences. Oh yeah, the night before we pulled out our confirmation tickets and found that we had actually missed the tour that day! Weep! All was well and the Ticketmaster website came through with new tickets....phew!

After arriving we waited in line to enter the complex, walked the length of the site Experiencing gardens, the continuous sound of water, and varied architectures ranging from Moorish, to Italianate, to Andalusian. All of it fairly grand and dating back to as early as the 9th century a.d.
Another line found us waiting to enter the Nasrid Palace...a Moorish compound that was added to in the 16th century in a stunning display of formality and grace. The drive, the getting lost, and lines all melted away as the sites began to unfold. Enjoy...and find a way to get yourself here to experience this in person.
