Sòller, the Port. Tourists Trapped!

Looking back at the experience of Port de Soller I would say we just came on the wrong day at the wrong time. It was cold and this place clearly is all about the water. We did enjoy a very nice meal at a cool restaurant/ nightclub where we sat out on a beautiful terrace and enjoyed the meal...while shivering!

When it was time to head back we thought we'd stand in line and catch a taxi. After standing for about 20 minutes, it became clear it would be another two hours of that as the taxis seldom came and there was a good long line in front of us. Okay, we thought, suck it up and take the train. There were crowds waiting for that and we waited with them. Only to find that they were with tour groups and given priority...we'd have to wait twenty minutes for the next train! It came, two cars only, and we couldn't make it on! Ugh...back to the taxi...no, now the line is longer and after waiting a good long time no taxis come...so, back to the train we go... Tis time we barely make it on and end up commiserating with a British family with two small boys who have experienced it all, too. Ain't travel grand?!?

I'm glad we have the camera along though...the pictures show a lovely place on a cloudy day. Ian and I drove in on a second morning to rent a kayak (not possible as the operator isn't there that day!) but, alas, the sun is out and we didn't take the train, and we enjoy a few nice moments on the beach. No camera though as we didn't want to risk getting it wet!
