Eating our way back home!

I'm writing from the last leg of the journey home...a flight from Boston Logan to LAX. I just paid $9.00 for a crappy plate of cheese and crackers. The contrast to our last few days is stark to say the least. Our last afternoon in Mallorca we drove over to the town of Banyalbufar...the closest village along the coast. We sat overlooking the sea on a warm day and had salads and pasta. The views were spectacular and the food matched the setting. Later that evening we made a wood burning fire in the Mallorcan BBQ and had a simple meal of roast chicken and salad. Yesterday we flew from Palma to Madrid and spent the afternoon visiting the Guernica, Picasso's massive painting rife with symbolism about a massacre by Franco's troops in a village of the same name. We then made our way up to the Mercado San Miguel for tapas and small tastes from a variety of vendors (this place is AWESOME...Madrid's compact version of San Francisco's Ferry Building it seems. Then we hung out with drinks for a while at the Plaza Mayor. Finally we headed to a favorite restaurant, Tartufo for a late dinner before turning in. Along the way to the hotel we passed the building where we spent our first five nights. As i write this and look at the pictures it hits me. We've gone full circle in Southern Spain, seen so much beauty, had rich and wonderful experiences, been stretched as a family, grown a lot...and with all of that new history to hope fully shape our lives moving forward, we are heading back home.

We are a VERY blessed family.

Adios España. We'll be back.
